Monday Reflections - November 10, 2008

If worship is supposed to be something like “heaven practice,” then yesterday was certainly that.  I felt so alive, so “toward Him,” if that makes sense!  Thanks Allen, Lorna, and worship band/team  members for so beautifully leading us to... (More) (RSS Feed)

If you happened to be in the first service, let me add an insight from Fred, one of our regular attenders.  After going through the random list of David’s stress-producers (fear, verbal opposition, physical weakness, etc.), Fred made the... (More) (RSS Feed)

“How beautiful You are, How merciful You are, How glorious you are…”  Wow!  What worship!  Thanks Allen and team for a great day of encountering God in worship.   It’s encouraging to hear of the testimonies of people who... (More) (RSS Feed)

Do you have hopes that never seem to come to pass? Are you prepared for God to answer your prayers – and “one-up” you in the process? (Podcast) (RSS Feed)
How would YOU like to Grow?

The Re-new track for Chapter 1 of the Grow! book (p. 13) asks you to write your story by sharing how you would most like to grow or be renewed over the next 12 weeks.  I would like to know what YOUR growth goals are.  Here are my top 3:

1.  Witnessing.  One of the challenges of being a pastor is that we're surrounded with believers all the time UNLESS we intentionally cultivate relationships with non-believers.  I have talking to the Lord often lately about this.

2.  Fullness.  My (our) friend Rich Smith once spoke to me about the need to walk in a New Testament anointing rather than an Old Testament anointing.  The difference?  In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit would come and leave, often based on events.  In the New Testament, the Holy Spirit indwells every believer, and they walk in the Spirit with power.  I am praying that during these days in my personal life, prayer life, and ministry, as well as in my family and every other dimension, I walk more in that New Testament anointing type of power.

3.  Perspective.  I want to learn consistently to see through the eyes and walk in the ways of God (Isaiah 58:8-9).

How about you?  What are YOUR top 3?

1. I want to be a living letter that others can see as a message from Jesus. I have tried to live that way for some time now, but would like a new word on it. I especially want to live this for Joel and Miles.
2. I want God to use me morw than I have allowed Him to recently. One of my favorite verses used to be "Here am I Lord, send me", I want that to be my heartfelt prayer again.
3.I pray often. But, of course there is always time to pray more. I know I can grow more by spending time talking, and listening, to my Father. I want a burning desire to come and move me to that place.

1. Grow in knowledge of Him.
2. Grow in faith in Him.
3. Grow in walking with Him.
